FAQ

Who participates?

12’s – 18’s

When and where do you practice?

Most practices are from 2 to 2 1/2 hours. The times are set by access to the gyms. Weekday practices range from 5:00 to 9:30 pm. All teams practice twice during the week, and play on the weekend. All participants will participate in plyometrics and will be given additional opportunities for Strength and Conditioning programs where available, and we like all of our athletes to follow a recommended diet designed by a nutrition expert.

Where:  is based on the county (Ionia, Lenawee, Jackson, or Calhoun) that you will be playing. You will need to contact corevolleyball@yahoo.com  to get accurate and up to date information prior to the start of the season

Will my daughter play every match?

Not necessarily.  There are 10 12 athletes on every team and only 6 can play at a time.  We will make every effort to get fair play time for the girls, especially during tournament pool play.  During the playoffs, coaches may choose to play their most competitive lineup.   Lack of attendance at practice, poor attitude or effort could also negatively affect play time.

How long is the season?

This will vary between Club teams and Elite teams. The first local competitions for the high school age groups are at the beginning of January. Usually each team will enter one to three local competitions each month through the end of April. During mid March our Elementary and Junior High season starts. The Elite Traveling and Elite Select teams compete from January-June in various locations of the United States. All of our Elite teams try and play the toughest schedule as possible so they are prepared to qualify for the USAV Junior National tournament in the months of June and July.

What teams do the girls play against?

Our Elite Traveling and Elite Select teams endeavor to play against the best competition available in the Midwest. Some of our teams play teams within our Michigan and other volleyball clubs through-out the Midwest. All teams will play in a tournament-like situation and play several matches in a day on Saturdays and/or Sundays. During the season the Elite Select teams will go to out-of-town weekend tournaments to play the highest level of competition that is available and Elite Traveling will play in both out-of-town and out-of-state competitions.

What if a Club activity conflicts with a school activity?

We feel that school activities come first. However, a player who attends a practice will get much more out of the practice than one that does not come to the practice at all, and will be rewarded as such. The higher the level of play an athlete wishes to achieve is directly related to the dedication, effort and commitment the athlete makes to the program. The Elite teams will look for a higher level of commitment and dedication.

How many girls are on a team?

The number of girls on each team will depend on how many girls try out for each age division. Team sizes will range from 9 to 12 girls.
